ONCE MILANO FOR

Vista Ostuni

Part of LarioHotels, a group owned by the Passera family that has been operating in the hospitality sector for over 100 years, Vista Ostuni is the third 5-star luxury property under the Vista brand in Italy, following the opening of Vista Verona and Vista Lago di Como.

Vista hotels are boutique properties located in places rich in history and artistic charm, where luxury hospitality is not yet fully developed and where the anticipated growth in tourism over the coming years will demand increasingly high-quality accommodations.

With the Vista brand, we focus on Italian destinations—art cities and historic villages—that do not yet offer hospitality worthy of their potential.  We aim to offer highly charming accommodations—historic buildings that, once renovated, can restore value and beauty to the area while providing guests with a truly Italian experience,” comments Bianca Passera, President of LarioHotels.

Vista Ostuni, proudly part of The Leading Hotels of The World, boasts an exceptional location set within three hectares of Mediterranean gardens, nestled in the “Plain of Monumental Olive Trees”, just steps from Ostuni, Italy’s most famous “White City,” .
Covering over 6,000 square meters and featuring 1,200 square meters of terraces, the hotel rises within the former Manifattura Tabacchi in Ostuni, a fascinating building that, despite its essential style typical of the Apulian tradition, holds a deep-rooted history tied to the local community.

Originally, the property was home to a Dominican friary and then purchased by the municipal administration and repurposed for civic use as a hospital. The current building was erected at the end of the 19th century by the will of Sister Maria Raimonda Fuentes, with the aim of creating a retirement home, a vocational school for poor girls, and an orphanage. In the early 1920s, entrepreneur Giuseppe Cortese acquired it to expand his tobacco manufacturing business, which closed permanently in 1968. Since then, the building has remained closed, waiting for a new life and purpose.

Today, with its distinctive architecture featuring a majestic arcaded cloister and high interior ceilings, the building joins the portfolio of historic properties restored and enhanced by LarioHotels, once again demonstrating the Group’s strong commitment to preserving and revitalizing historic real estate.

Vista Ostuni places sustainability at the core of its vision, aiming for LEED certification through measures focused on energy efficiency, water conservation, emissions reduction, and the enhancement of biodiversity. The project also includes sustainable mobility solutions such as bicycle parking and electric vehicle charging stations.

The architectural project is led by the Milan-based firm RMA Roberto Murgia Architetto. “Working on a historic building urges us to reinterpret the cultural, environmental, and social roots that gave it life—reinventing a new way of welcoming guests by using natural materials and traditional geometries, simple forms, and refined details.” says architect Roberto Murgia of Studio RMA, Milan.

Vista Ostuni features an extensive outdoor area and approximately 28 rooms and suites, all generously sized. The offering includes two restaurants and two bars, a rooftop with 360-degree views from the sea to the city, three swimming pools (two outdoor and one indoor), a spa with a beauty center and private suites, and a fully equipped gym.

For the interior styling of the hotel rooms, designed in a refined palette of sepia, aquamarine and light blue tones, wall hangings by Studiopepe for Once Milano, have been carefully selected. These hand-embroidered tapestries of exceptional artisanal value - part of the ‘Sybille’ collection conceived by the Milan-based design, architecture, and creative direction agency founded by Arianna Lelli Mami & Chiara Di Pinto - are thoughtfully integrated into an environment where attention to detail enhances the beauty of the setting. The mythical Sibyls of Graeco-Roman antiquity were deemed to be endowed with sensibility. It is an intriguing coincidence that the name Vista evokes the ability of these mythical figures to perceive the “subtle” world, which remains hidden from most — a world that can only be contemplated through the eyes of one’s heart.
