Once Milano for Net-a-Porter
NET-A-PORTER and THE KING’S OF FOUNDATION unveil luxury capsule inspired by nature and hand-crafted by emerging artisans
NET-A-PORTER hosted an intimate breakfast event at the Barbican Centre for the third edition of their transformative talent programme, in partnership with The King's Foundation, for the launch of a ready-to-wear capsule collection emphasizing the use of responsible materials and techniques and championing a more sustainable approach to luxury fashion.
Echoing the inspiration behind the designs, guests gathered amongst the wild, nature-centric decor to explore the collection and hear the emerging fashion and textiles trainees telling the story of this one-of-a-kind training journey – from research trips to the Scottish Highlands, to immersion in collection design at NET-A-PORTER’s London HQ, and a six-month residency to hand-craft the collection at The King’s Foundation in Scotland.
The artisans were joined by many of NET-A-PORTER and The King's Foundation's skilled partners who have guided them through every step, including knitwear development, tailoring expertise, and harnessing the power of plants and flowers to make natural dyes.
Once Milano is proud to have been chosen to decorate the breakfast table with a majestic 20-meters long tablecloth in natural tones, paired with mitred corner light linen napkins. We feel the sartorial approach - which is at the core of Once Milano’s philosophy - perfectly matches with the objective of this event, aiming at preserving the legacy of traditional craftsmanship.
Perched on the 85th floor, the Artemest penthouse is a living gallery of Italian masterpieces like no other in NYC. This sophisticated showcase is brought to life through a collaboration between Artemest and MAWD | March and White Design, the project’s globally acclaimed interior design team.
Each selected hand-made piece within the penthouse, from furniture to art, home décor, and lighting - curated from the Artemest collection - embodies the unparalleled quality and heritage of each artisan, garnered through generations of mastery of their craft.
Once Milano’s linen - from bedsheets with piping and tablecloths with napkins in natural nuances - have been chosen to create a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere, evoking a sense of being among the clouds and providing a perfect retreat from the bustling city below.
The collaboration between Artemest and MAWD is a testament to a shared vision of creating spaces that tell a story. The result is a space that not only exudes luxury but also captures the essence of Italian heritage. This project goes beyond aesthetics - each handcrafted piece reflects the spirit of its maker and evokes a sense of place, resulting in an environment where every detail feels personal and meaningful.
